ThermWave 1.3 Microwave Furance
The ThermWave 1.3 Microwave Furnace was designed by Dr. Larry A Wolfe Ph.D. and Eugune Lunghofer in the 1990's in an effort to acheive high temperatures in short periods of time, while keeping costs down. The ThermWave 1.3 can reach temperatures of 1500¨¬C in less than half an hour. The same furnace is used at NASA, LSU and Rutgers University.
The ThermWave 1.3 Microwave Furnace is made to be operated on 120 Volts AC. A transformer must be used to step the voltage from 240 Volts AC to 120 Volts AC. If you have any doubts and/or are unsure about the required Voltage in your country to operate the ThermWave 1.3, contact a certified electrician.
EPL Ceramic Materials LLC will supply you with a step-down transformer if you request. However, the price of shipping a transformer overseas is ten times more expensive than the purchase price of the transformer.

Microwave Furnace Susceptors
by EPL Ceramic Materials LLC
- Fast, Controllable and Reproducible Heating
- Converts Microwave Energy to Radiant Heat
- Supplement Volumetric Heating for non-Suscepting Materials
- Avoids Inverse Temperature Profile for Suscepting Materials
- Proprietary Silicon Carbide Composite Susceptors
Susceptors absorb microwave energy at low temperatures when the sample may or may not absorb microwave energy.
In a very small space the susceptors may absorb a tremendous amount of energy and require a reduction in size. In larger thermal boxes, it may be necessary to increase the size and/or amount of susceptors

Microwave Furnaces by EPL Ceramic Materials LLC
EPL Ceramic Materials LLC is a leader in the field of microwave furnace technology. EPL Ceramic Materials LLC is the manufacturer and distributor of the World Famous ThermWave Microwave Furnace, used in laboratories and research facilities, such as NASA and Rutgers University.
Developed by Eugene Lunghofer and Dr. Larry Wolfe Ph.D., The ThermWave Microwave Furnace was designed to be a low-cost alternative for research and development.
A typical Thermwave Microwave Furnace package consists of a ThermWave Microwave Furnace, thermocouple, refractory package and susceptors.
All ThermWave Microwave Furnaces are custom-built in the laboratories of EPL Ceramic Materials LLC in Youngstown New York.
If you are looking for faster firing times, shorter dwell times or lower firing temperatures along with increased energy efficiency, then a ThermWave Microwave Furnace is what you need!
EPL Ceramic Materials LLC offers two distinct Microwave Furnaces. The ThermWave 1.3 Microwave Furnace is an entry-level Microwave Furnace, great for research and development. The next step up is the ThermWave 2.0 Microwave Furnace.
Aside from Microwave Furnaces, EPL Ceramic Materials LLC sells a wide variety of products used in microwave sintering, such as thermocouples, microwave susceptors, thermal pods, thermal boxes. EPL is also available for Ceramic Industry Consulting.
